Information can be useful on its own, but practical knowledge organizes what matters around use.

Ask someone, “How do I make my website faster?” They may quickly find explanations of caching, CDNs, image compression, JavaScript, lazy loading, Core Web Vitals and server response time. All of that can be correct. The person can still end the research session with: “Okay… what should I do first?”
That is the application gap: the distance between having information and knowing how to use the right part of it in the current situation. The missing layer often includes prioritization, context, sequence, examples, tools, checkpoints and feedback.

These categories overlap. Practical knowledge can contribute to skill, but skill requires actual performance and repetition. Knowing a procedure is not identical to being able to execute it fluently under pressure or adapt it to unusual cases.
