I’m Gideon Kiptoo, a poultry farmer based in Kericho, Kenya, with over ten years of hands-on experience in the business. I started with thirty chicks in a converted storeroom behind my house and lost most of them in the first month to cold nights I hadn’t prepared for — a lesson that taught me more about brooding than any pamphlet ever could. Since then I’ve built that small flock into a farm that supplies eggs and birds to local shops, combining what I learned at the University of Eldoret with the knowledge a farm only teaches you by making you pay for it. I recently wrote Effective Poultry Farming in Kenya, a fifteen-chapter practical handbook drawn from a decade of real farming experience, and I write to help other farmers avoid the mistakes that cost me the most.
I write clear, practical, farmer-tested content — the kind meant to be marked up and used, not left clean on a shelf. My strengths are turning hard-won field experience into step-by-step guidance: brooding and biosecurity, feed and cost management, disease recognition, and building a poultry business from a handful of chicks into a reliable income. I write in plain language for people who need answers they can act on the same day, and I know how to structure long-form material — chapters, checklists, action steps and takeaways — so readers actually finish and use what they read.
